Art Swap Donation Guidelines

Home / Art Swap Donation Guidelines

Donation Do’s

There’s no way to make a comprehensive list of every cool art thing you could possibly own.

If it helps you make art and isn’t falling apart, someone can probably use it.

  • Paint tubes that you can open without a vice grip
  • That sketchbook you drew in three times
  • The embroidery kit your aunt bought you that you don’t want to try

Drawing & Painting

  • Sketchbooks & drawing paper
  • Watercolor, acrylic, & oil paints
  • Paintbrushes & palette knives
  • Colored pencils, markers, & pastels
  • Ink & calligraphy supplies

Printmaking & Mixed Media

  • Linocut tools & printing ink
  • Stamps & stencils
  • Adhesives (glue sticks, Mod Podge, spray adhesive)

Paper & Stationery

  • Handmade & specialty paper
  • Cardstock & scrapbook paper
  • Journals & notebooks
  • Envelopes & greeting card blanks

Fiber Arts & Textiles

  • Yarn & embroidery floss
  • Fabric & sewing notions
  • Knitting needles & crochet hooks
  • Roving & Other Fiber

3D & Sculpture

  • Clay & sculpting tools
  • Wire & armatures
  • Wood pieces & carving tools
  • Foam board & modeling materials

Miscellaneous & Crafting

  • Storage containers & organizers
  • Beads & jewelry-making supplies
  • Stickers & embellishments
  • Hot glue guns & glue sticks

Donation Don’ts

If it’s going to leak on the floor and cause mystery stains, we’d appreciate if it stayed home.

In the future, we hope to be able to facilitate swapping larger items but for safety it’s just not feasible.

Do not under any circumstances leave donations at the DCA Center outside of Art Swap Donation Days unless you have coordinated with a volunteer.

  • Things that don’t work but should
  • Things that smell
  • Things that are super heavy
  • Fabric smaller than a fat quarter
  • Anything potentially hazardous (solvents, etc)
  • Materials that require work to be usable.
