As part of Greenfield’s Buffalo Days festivities, the Opera House was buzzing with creativity, conversation, and community spirit during the Buffalo Days Artist Showcase—a two-day event hosted by Dade County ArtConnect that brought together local artists, makers, and supporters under one roof.
Downstairs: The Art Sale & Handmade Market
The first floor of the Opera House transformed into a bustling artisan market, filled with tables showcasing handcrafted items from across the region. Visitors could shop everything from handwoven baskets and detailed woodwork to floral creations, hand-painted décor, fabulous woodcut prints, and even Christmas stockings (yes, in May—because it’s never too early!). It was a warm and welcoming space where people could chat with makers, learn about their craft, and take home something meaningful.
Whether you were drawn in by the scent of wood polish, the shimmer of handmade jewelry, or the charm of painted gnomes on barnwood, there was something to delight everyone. These local artists not only brought their wares—they brought their stories, their energy, and their generosity to the event.
Upstairs: A Juried Art Show with Heart
The second floor hosted our juried Memorial Art Show, a more contemplative space where visitors could view works that explored themes of remembrance and legacy. Artists interpreted the theme in deeply personal ways—through portraits of loved ones, tributes to veterans, landscapes that evoked quiet reflection, and symbolic pieces filled with emotion.
Among the many standout entries were vivid wildlife scenes, peaceful farm imagery, serene swans, and intricate mosaics. Each work was accompanied by an artist statement, adding depth to the experience and allowing attendees to connect with the meaning behind the art.

Old Friends, Sweet Treats, and Rainy Day Joy
One of the highlights of the event was the return of Clista Jarett, who has been away from Greenfield but made it back just in time to help with our Buffalo Days cakewalk. She and DCA President Jocelyn Dunaway ran the event together, handing out treats and laughter to a steady stream of participants. Even a little rainy weather couldn’t put a damper on the fun—there were plenty of umbrellas and smiles to go around.

Looking Ahead
The Buffalo Days Artist Showcase reminded us what’s possible when a community comes together around art, memory, and celebration. Thank you to every artist who participated, every vendor who set up a table, every visitor who stopped by, and every volunteer who helped make it all happen.
If you missed it this year—don’t worry. We’re already thinking ahead to next time. And if you’d like to get involved as an artist, vendor, or sponsor, Dade County ArtConnect would love to hear from you!
