On March 12th, 2025, Dade County ArtConnect marked a major milestone with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the opening of its new home in Greenfield, Missouri. The event brought together community members, local leaders, artists, and supporters to commemorate this exciting new chapter for the arts in Dade County.
A Warm Welcome and a Look Back
The ceremony began with a welcome from the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce President, Tim Buford, who reflected on the journey that led to this moment. DCA was founded in the fall of 2023 when Jocelyn Dunaway and Jennifer Jones recognized the need for a dedicated community arts space. What started with classes in shared spaces quickly grew into a thriving organization, demonstrating the vital role the arts play in enriching the local community.

Celebrating Growth and Future Plans
DCA President Jocelyn Dunaway shared highlights of the organization’s achievements, including the success of their first full-length theater production, The Sam Spoof Mystery, and the expansion of their class offerings. From printmaking and basket weaving to drawing and needle felting, the art center has already hosted a variety of creative workshops. Looking ahead, the organization plans to introduce additional classes, including acrylic and watercolor painting, clay and pottery, sculpting, mosaics, and more.
Beyond classes, DCA is actively working on new community engagement initiatives. One of the most anticipated events is an upcoming Art Supply Swap, allowing artists and crafters to donate and purchase gently used supplies. Additionally, DCA is planning outreach programs to bring arts education to neighboring communities.

Honoring Scott Houston’s Generosity
A key highlight of the ceremony was the ribbon-cutting itself, led by Scott Houston, whose generous donation of the building made DCA’s new home possible. Following the official ribbon-cutting moment, attendees gathered for the dedication of the Scott Houston Performance Hall, a tribute to his incredible contribution. A framed certificate now hangs outside the performance space, recognizing his impact on the local arts community.
Community Support and Fundraising Success
The event was not just a celebration but also an opportunity to rally support for the arts. DCA raised funds during the event and announced several upcoming fundraisers, including an art sale at Buffalo Days and a golf tournament in June. Additionally, the organization is actively seeking support for its Building Improvement Fund and Student Scholarship Fund to help sustain and grow its programming.
Thanks to generous grants from the DACO Foundation and MFA Oil Foundation, DCA will be making essential building improvements, including electrical upgrades and rebuilding the front steps. The next big project on the horizon is replacing the aging windows to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.
A Community Celebration
Following the formal presentations, attendees enjoyed refreshments provided by Hedge Apple Eatery and had the chance to explore the new space through guided and self-led tours. Special thanks to Moore Solutions for sponsoring the event and making the celebration possible.
DCA was also honored to have Bob Jackson from the Greenfield Vedette and Kaitlyn McConnell from Ozarks Alive in attendance to cover this special occasion. Their support in sharing the story of DCA’s growth and impact means so much to the community.
Looking Ahead
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a joyful and inspiring event, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for Dade County ArtConnect. With a permanent home, growing programs, and unwavering community support, the future is bright for the arts in Dade County.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone—we can’t wait to see what comes next!
